The Ksport Supercomp Big Brake Kit represents a significant upgrade in stopping performance for select Mercedes-Benz SL-Class models. This front brake system is engineered with an 8-piston caliper forged from aircraft-quality billet aluminum, weighing just over 7 lbs., offering superior rigidity and pad wear compared to OEM designs. The kit includes a 380x32mm 2-piece floating disc assembly designed to reduce both rotating and unsprung weight. This floating design also mitigates thermal stresses caused by extreme heat, preventing disc warping and surface cupping. The rotors feature a unique slot design for reduced braking noise and faster expulsion of gas and pad debris. Cross-drilled rotors are standard for cooler operation and are recommended for daily driven vehicles, while slotted rotors are an option for more track-focused use. Integration of new brake technology allows this kit to highly reduce brake fade and continually cool and refresh the brake pad surface under braking. The opposed piston caliper design greatly improves pad wear and caliper rigidity. Stainless steel brake lines are standard to prevent expansion under pressure and provide a firmer pedal feel. This specific kit is compatible with the Mercedes-Benz SL Class R230 chassis, including the SL500 (M113 5.0L) from 2003-2006, the SL55 AMG Komp (M113K 5.5L) from 2003-2006, and the SL550 (M273 5.5L) from 2007-2011.
