The Ksport SuperComp Big Brake Kit offers a significant upgrade in stopping power for your Mercedes Benz R230 SL Class. Engineered with advanced brake technology, this kit dramatically reduces brake fade and continuously cools the brake pads during braking, making it suitable for both spirited street driving and occasional track use. The kit features extreme lightweight SuperComp calipers, forged from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 billet aluminum, weighing just over 7 lbs each. These calipers boast a differential bore configuration with larger pistons compared to ProComp models, enhancing pad wear and caliper rigidity. Standard features include aluminum pistons, high-temperature seals, titanium brake pad retainer clips, and stainless-steel brake pad wear plates. Due to the caliper's size, each unit requires four brake pads. The braking system includes 2-piece floating disc assemblies designed to reduce both rotating and unsprung weight. This floating design also prevents thermal stresses from warping the discs or cupping the braking surface. The rotors feature a unique slot pattern that reduces braking noise and expels gases and pad debris more efficiently than conventional designs. All rotors are heat-treated and balanced prior to shipment. Ksport offers both cross-drilled rotors, recommended for daily drivers due to cooler operation, and slotted rotors, recommended for more track-oriented use. This specific kit includes 400mm x 36mm rotors. Included with the kit are Ksport SC5 Street Pads, which are NAOC ceramic pads designed for optimal performance in street and occasional track conditions, operating efficiently between 194°F – 1022°F. These pads also reduce brake dust by 50% or more compared to race pads, while minimizing noise and rotor wear. Alternatively, Ksport RC5 Race Pads (carbon metallic) are available for extreme track conditions, with optimal operating temperatures between 482°F – 1472°F, though they are not recommended for street use. The kit also comes standard with CNC-machined carbon steel caliper brackets for direct OEM location fitment and D.O.T. compliant stainless-steel braided brake lines, which improve pedal feel and response.
