The Ksport Supercomp Front Big Brake Kit offers enhanced stopping power for your VW MK1 Golf. This system integrates advanced brake technology to significantly reduce brake fade and ensure continuous cooling and refreshing of the brake pads during use. The kit features Ksport's extreme lightweight SuperComp caliper, forged from aircraft-quality billet aluminum. This caliper boasts a differential bore configuration with larger pistons than their ProComp line, weighing just over 7 lbs each. Standard features include aluminum pistons, high-temperature seals, titanium brake pad retainer clips, and stainless-steel brake pad wear plates. The opposed piston design enhances pad wear and caliper rigidity, while the included stainless-steel braided brake lines resist expansion under pressure, improving pedal feel and response. Due to the caliper size, each SuperComp caliper requires four brake pads. This kit utilizes a 2-piece floating disc assembly, reducing both rotating and unsprung weight. The floating design mitigates thermal stresses that can cause disc warping or cupping under extreme heat. The rotors feature a unique slot design that minimizes braking noise and efficiently expels gas and pad debris. Rotors are heat-treated and balanced for optimal performance, with cross-drilled options recommended for daily driving due to their cooler operation compared to slotted rotors, which are better suited for track use. Standard equipment includes Ksport SC5 Street Pads, designed for optimal performance under street and occasional track conditions, with an optimal operating temperature range of 194°F–1022°F. These pads offer reduced dust (by 50% or more) and noise compared to race pads, with an average coefficient of friction between .46 and .53. Optional RC5 Race Pads (carbon metallic) are available for extreme track conditions, with higher optimal operating temperatures (482°F–1472°F) making them unsuitable for street use. The kit includes CNC-machined carbon steel caliper brackets tailored for direct fitment to OEM caliper locations. This product is made to order and is non-refundable.
