The KSport Supercomp Rear Big Brake Kit is engineered to provide superior stopping power for your Volkswagen MK4 Golf 1.8T. The SuperComp caliper itself is a marvel of engineering, forged from aircraft-quality billet aluminum and featuring a differential bore configuration with substantially larger pistons compared to Ksport's ProComp calipers. It weighs just over 7 lbs. each and includes built-in protection grooves for bridge tubes. Standard features across all calipers include aluminum pistons, high-temperature seals, titanium brake pad retainer clips, and stainless-steel brake pad wear plates. The opposed piston caliper design enhances both pad wear and caliper rigidity over OEM designs, while the stainless-steel braided brake lines prevent expansion under pressure, leading to improved pedal feel and quicker response. Given the substantial size of the SuperComp calipers, each caliper utilizes four brake pads. This kit features a 2-piece floating disc assembly, which minimizes both rotating and unsprung weight. The floating disc design also prevents thermal stresses from extreme heat from warping the disc or cupping the braking surface. The unique slot design on the rotor helps reduce braking noise and more effectively expels gas and pad debris compared to conventional designs. All rotors are heat-treated and balanced before shipment for optimal performance. Buyers can choose between cross-drilled rotors, recommended for daily-driven vehicles as they tend to run cooler, or slotted rotors, which are better suited for track use. Ksport offers SC5 Street Pads as standard, designed for optimal performance in street and occasional track conditions, offering reduced dust, noise, and wear compared to race pads. Alternatively, RC5 Race Pads, made from carbon metallic compounds, are available for extreme track conditions but are not recommended for street use due to their high operating temperature requirements.
