SX Series Forged Flat Top Piston Set, 4.030" Bore

The Dss 8840-4030 is a set of SX Series forged pistons engineered for Small Block Ford 302 (5.0L) engines. These pistons are crafted from a premium aircraft-spec 4032 low expansion alloy, offering superior strength and thermal properties for performance applications. They feature a -5cc flat top design, a 4.030 inch bore, and a 1.600 inch compression height, compatible with SBF 20 Degree Inline & Twisted Wedge cylinder heads. Key features of the SX Series include CNC machined valve reliefs for accommodating moderate to aggressive cam and head combinations, drilled bottom ring land for intersecting oil groove drain-backs, and a patented "X Groove" skirt design aimed at enhancing cylinder and ring life. The pistons also incorporate thinner/shallower ring grooves for improved ring seal and land strength, along with low volume contact reduction grooves and a 2nd ring land accumulator groove to prevent ring flutter. They are available as a piston, pin, and locs kit without rings, or as a complete kit with DSS Racing rings. The specifications include a 0.912 inch pin diameter, a 5.090 inch connecting rod length, and a 3.000 inch crankshaft stroke, allowing for various compression ratio options depending on chamber volume.
