The 6-Speed Allison 1000 transmission in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 L5P Duramax Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks relies on its TCM for advanced electronic control. Upgrading this factory calibration is crucial for modified trucks or those with ECM tuning, providing a better driving experience with quicker shifts and smoother operation. DuramaxTuner's Custom TCM tuning decreases shift times and boosts clutch holding capacity by electronically increasing line pressure. This results in a more durable, better-feeling transmission that helps keep the engine in its ideal RPM range to maximize power output. This tuning enhances performance for both stock and built transmissions. The available tuning styles include 'Smooth Shift Points,' ideal for near-stock trucks, daily commuters, or those prioritizing fuel economy. For trucks with upgraded turbochargers, larger tires (35”+), custom engine tuning, or those preferring higher RPM operation, 'Aggressive/Elevated Shift Points' is recommended. This TCM tuning is particularly beneficial for trucks with any ECM tuning, box tuner, or throttle booster, larger tires, modified turbos, or built transmissions. It optimizes the benefits of other aftermarket performance parts, improves acceleration by minimizing time between gears, and ensures the engine operates within its preferred power band.
