Description

The Timken 3188S is a cone for a single-row tapered roller bearing. This removable cone includes the inner ring and rollers. When combined with a separately available cup (outer ring), it forms a complete tapered roller bearing capable of absorbing both radial and axial forces in one direction.

The design of tapered roller bearings minimizes component wear by preventing sliding movements between raceways and rollers, though a minimum load is required for proper operation. The separable cone and cup allow for easy mounting and axial adjustment of end play or preload during assembly.
