Its sophisticated electronics package includes six total sensors—three gyroscopes and three accelerometers—that work in conjunction with an AI-powered crash algorithm to precisely determine when to deploy the airbag during an incident. Riders can expect up to 30 hours of use on a single charge, easily replenished via USB-C, and can select from three distinct riding modes: Street, Off-road, and Track. The system also integrates with the Tech-Air App for status monitoring, ride analysis, and over-the-air software updates via Bluetooth connectivity. The airbag system itself offers comprehensive upper body protection, extending coverage to the chest, back, shoulders, biceps, and ribs, a significant improvement over previous models. The airbag unit is certified for up to six deployments and features a user-replaceable 0.7 mol gas inflater argon canister, proven in MotoGP, allowing for self-serviceability. Regarding safety certifications, the Tech-Air 5 Plasma System and its components are certified as Category II PPE under European Regulation (UE) 2016/425 and UK legislation. The passive back protector is CE certified to EN1621-2:2014 Level 1, and the inflatable protector meets EN 1621-4:2013 Level 1 standards. The entire system is also certified as a Class C undergarment according to EN 17092-6:2020. It is crucial to note that the Tech-Air 5 Plasma is not abrasion resistant and must be used with a suitable protective outer garment that allows for airbag expansion. It is not intended for use with heated riding gear, as the ambient temperature limit is 122° F.
