The Mishimoto Thermal Bypass Valve Kit is designed to optimize the transmission cooling system in your 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. The stock thermostatic bypass valve ensures proper fluid temperature by preventing flow to the cooler before the transmission reaches its operating temperature, which is crucial for drivability and preventing overcooling in cold climates. However, a failing stock thermostat can lead to transmission overheating, and in hot climates, the valve can act as a restriction. This performance valve is constructed from durable, CNC-machined aircraft-grade aluminum with a protective anodized finish and integrated cooling fins for enhanced heat dissipation. It boasts increased flow compared to the OEM unit. The kit includes a 160°F thermostat, matching the stock opening temperature, but can be customized with other available Mishimoto thermostats to suit specific climate needs. For warmer regions or high-performance applications, the thermostat can be removed and replaced with the included bypass plug to ensure constant flow to the transmission cooler. Installation is rated as easy and can typically be completed in under an hour. The kit is a direct-fit for the specified Jeep Wrangler JK models.
