The Mahle Behr 11537549476 is an engine coolant thermostat assembly crafted with a plastic housing and engineered to OE specifications. This component plays a crucial role in maintaining your BMW's proper operating temperature, preventing issues like running too cold or overheating. A thermostat stuck open can lead to a rich fuel mixture, poor fuel economy, and potential catalytic converter damage, while a thermostat stuck closed can cause overheating and severe engine damage. Symptoms of a failing thermostat include an overheating engine, an engine that doesn't reach optimal running temperature, or a radiator fan that fails to engage. This thermostat opens at 97 degrees Celsius and is designed for a range of BMW models including the 1 Series M, 128i, 135i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 330i, 330xi, 525i, 525xi, 530i, 530xi, and Z4 models, primarily from the mid-2000s to early 2010s, typically equipped with N51, N52, or N54 engines.
