The two primary failure modes are getting stuck open, which prevents the engine from reaching its proper operating temperature, potentially resulting in poor fuel economy and catalytic converter damage, or sticking closed, which restricts coolant flow and can cause the engine to overheat, leading to severe damage. This assembly comes complete with the necessary gasket for a straightforward installation. This thermostat is engineered with a plastic housing and opens at 97°C. The installation process requires specific torque values: 10 Nm for smaller fasteners and 22 Nm for larger ones. It also features a retaining ring for the sensor.
