These boots are constructed from a unique material derived from lava rock, which is then stranded and woven into a proprietary weave. This construction provides both exceptional durability and the flexibility required for a universal fit on most straight or angled spark plug boots. Engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, these boots can handle up to 1800°F (983°C) of direct heat. Their inherent resistance to heat, chemicals, and abrasions makes them a robust solution for preventing common issues like spark plug boot hardening, cracking, and arching that can lead to engine misfires and ignition system failure. The double-wall construction further enhances their durability. Beyond their protective capabilities, the Titanium Protect-A-Boots feature a distinctive weave and color that offers a "cool" carbon fiber appearance, making them an attractive addition to any engine bay for race, street, show cars, and off-road vehicles. The pack includes eight 6-inch boots, each equipped with a reinforcement ring at the base to facilitate easier plug removal during maintenance. DEI also offers alternative solutions for specific needs: their 8-inch Titanium Protect-A-Boot XL Ringless is recommended for boots with tight bends, and their Protect-A-Boot Ringless Sleeves with a 1.25-inch diameter are suggested for thicker boots like those from MSD or Taylor.
