The Process West Top Mount Intercooler is a comprehensive, no-compromise cooling solution engineered specifically for the 2002-2003 Subaru WRX. The kit includes the intercooler core, a purpose-built air splitter, and a balanced Y-pipe, providing everything needed for a direct-fit installation. The system features a 90mm core thickness, which the manufacturer identified as the optimal size to maximize cooling efficiency without creating unnecessary airflow restriction. The purpose-built splitter further enhances this by ensuring 100% of the core is utilized by channeling incoming air from the hood scoop effectively. Testing demonstrates significant advantages over the stock intercooler. On dyno runs, this system produced 115.5 kW compared to the 107.5 kW measured from the factory unit. Furthermore, street testing showed a maximum intake temperature of approximately 43°C during aggressive driving, whereas the stock system reached 72°C and continued to rise. These cooling improvements contribute to greater power consistency, reduced ECU timing pull, and improved overall engine reliability.
