Top Mount Intercooler Kit

The GrimmSpeed Top Mount Intercooler Kit is engineered to replace the undersized, plastic stock intercooler on 2015-2021 Subaru WRX vehicles. This kit addresses the limitations of the factory FA20dit TMIC, which is less effective when boost levels are increased, leading to higher post-turbo air temperatures, pre-detonation (knock), and power loss. Construction features include a 13.1in x 10in x 3.75in cross-flow bar and plate core, chosen for its balance of high heat transfer and low pressure drop. The end tanks are precision cast aluminum with machined splitter mounting features, and are TIG welded to the core. The kit utilizes custom-molded, reinforced 5-ply silicone couplers for durability and includes a fully-integrated two-piece splitter design that collects air from the entire width of the scoop and feeds it directly to the core. A 1/8 NPT bung is cast into the outlet end tank, CNC tapped and plugged for future water-methanol injection use. Vibration isolation mounting reuses factory mounts to protect the system from fatigue. The GrimmSpeed engineering team spent over a year in testing and revision to develop this high-performing Top Mount Intercooler. The kit provides a perfectly fitting intercooler assembly, a custom 5-ply silicone throttle body coupler, and hi-torque stainless steel clamps. The two-piece splitter design is an innovative replacement for the factory engine cover, optimizing airflow to the larger core. The product is cleaned, inspected, and sealed prior to shipping to prevent motor damage from foreign matter. The end tanks are cast and machined in Minnesota, and the assembly is pressure tested before shipment.
