Overview

The NGK TR6 is a V-Power spark plug designed with a specially engineered v-groove center electrode to improve ignitability. These spark plugs feature a 98% pure copper core to increase heat dissipation and reduce the risk of overheating.

The NGK TR6 spark plug utilizes a patented 90-degree V-groove center electrode, which allows the spark to occur closer to the edge of the electrodes for better flame expansion. This design effectively reduces quenching and improves overall ignitability. Constructed with a high-grade alumina silicate ceramic insulator, the plug resists dielectric punch-through, while its cold-rolled threads prevent damage to cylinder heads during installation. Trivalent metal plating is applied to the shell, providing superior anti-corrosion and anti-seizing properties, which eliminates the need for external anti-seize compounds. Technical specifications include a heat range of 6, an M14-1.25 thread size, and a tapered seat. The plug features a non-removable nut terminal and is pre-gapped at 0.040 inches. While pre-gapped, technicians may need to adjust the gap within ±0.004 inches of the OE-recommended value using a spark plug gap tool or feeler gauge to match specific engine requirements. Note that this plug is often selected for high-performance applications, such as engines equipped with forced induction or nitrous systems, where a colder heat range is required. Refer to the specific technical bulletin for 2004-2005 Ford F-150, Expedition, Super Duty, and Lincoln Navigator 5.4L engines regarding proper spark plug removal procedures.
