Transfer Case Shifter Assembly

The Novak SK2X shifter assembly is a direct linkage replacement for factory Jeep transfer case linkages, designed to eliminate shifter kick-outs and potential transfer case damage. It is constructed from 3/16" steel and features a black zinc-plated finish for corrosion resistance. The kit includes an adapter housing, transfer case anchor bracket, shifter stick/cane, pivot bracket, bellcrank, bearing ends, hardware, and instructions. The shift pattern remains the same as factory (2-Hi front, 4-Lo rear) and it is fully compatible with modified "2-Low" NP231 transfer cases. It also offers a clean shifting mechanism for transmission conversions where original linkage points are unusable. The SK2X is compatible with Novak adapters and many other aftermarket adapter brands, and its design is independent of the transmission, allowing for a wide range of transmission applications. It is designed to fit most Jeeps equipped with NP/NVG (New Process/New Venture Gear) 6-bolt pattern transfer cases from 1988 onwards, including the 207, 231, 242, and 249 series, as well as most Dodge and 242AMG transfer cases. However, it is explicitly not compatible with the NP241OR or Chevy/GM 5 or 6-bolt transfer cases. Installation requires standard hand tools and typically a torch for bending the shifter cane to the correct shape. A mock-up shift cane is included to aid in configuring the installation prior to bending the actual steel cane. While Novak aims for simple installation, mechanical ability and skill in bending metal are necessary. Professional installation is recommended for those uncomfortable with the process. Shifter knobs require a 3/8-24 fine thread, and compatible knobs are available separately. While generally recommended for standard TJ/XJ/LJ/MJ Jeeps with NP231 & NP242 transfer cases, Novak generally recommends their cable shifters for standard and Rubicon TJ/LJ Wranglers.
