The RENNtech Transmission Upgrade is a mechanical enhancement for the 722.6 Mercedes five-speed transmission, specifically designed for V8 engines. This upgrade is crucial for vehicles with increased engine performance, ensuring that driveline components can handle the additional power without slippage and efficiently transmit it to the drive wheels. Unlike software-only solutions, this upgrade involves an internal mechanical modification to the transmission hardware. The core of the upgrade is a recalibration of the transmission clutch packs. This process maximizes the amount of friction materials within the transmission, significantly increasing the torque handling capability through each forward gear. During the rebuild, all new gaskets, seals, o-rings, and electrical connectors are installed, along with a new transmission pan filter, ensuring the transmission is refreshed. This upgrade results in noticeable improvements, including enhanced shift response, optimized shift timing, substantially increased torque handling capabilities, and greater drivability, particularly under extreme conditions. Important Note: RENNtech Transmission Upgrades can only be performed at the RENNtech HQ in Stuart, FL. The removal, upgrade, and installation of the transmission must be completed in-house at their facility.
