The Tru-Cool MAX 40,000 GVW transmission cooler, model LPD-4739-1, serves as a direct replacement for the original Tru-Cool 40K, which was discontinued by Dana-Spicer. Sourced from Capital Core Transmissions, this cooler maintains equivalent quality and rating to the OEM unit. This unit boasts a substantial 45,000 BTU rating and is suitable for vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of up to 40,000 pounds. It features a 13-plate design and measures 8.5" x 22.7" x 1.25". A basic installation kit is included, containing mounting brackets, barbed fittings, a section of rubber hose, and hose clamps for adaptation to hard lines, though this adaptation is not recommended. For enhanced safety and more secure connections, pairing with specific Tru-Cool 40k Line Kits is advised. Additionally, for installation on 1988-1998 GMT400 trucks, a Notched Hood Latch Bracket may be necessary to mount the cooler behind the grille. The seller, Kloc Fabrication, emphasizes that they do not offer a direct warranty on the transmission cooler, as it is not their manufactured product and variables in installation and use can affect performance. However, they offer an at-cost replacement for coolers that fail within six months of delivery, potentially requiring the return of the damaged unit.
