The canopy is made from a waterproof, all-season 3-ply laminated sailcloth (also described as 2-Ply, laminated PVC-coated) that is resistant to UV, rot, and mildew, ensuring longevity and ease of cleaning. It employs heavy-duty #10 YKK zippers and non-adhesive weather stripping to ensure a watertight seal for your truck bed. All components are user-replaceable, allowing for long-term use. Installation is straightforward, requiring no permanent modifications or drilling, and is typically completed in about 40 minutes using custom clamps. The Softopper® can be removed in seconds and folds flat for convenient storage. The design allows for modularity and versatility: the side panels and rear window can be rolled up for easy access to gear, providing ample ventilation and protection from sun and rain, making it even dog-friendly. No significant change in gas mileage or wind noise is typically reported at highway speeds. This model is available in three colors: Stealth Black, Desert Tan, and Battleship Gray, with options for replaceable window panels including Clear, tinted, and solid.
