This isolation serves multiple purposes: reducing turbo lag by keeping exhaust gases hotter, improving turbocharger efficiency, lowering intake air temperatures for a denser air charge, and protecting vital under-hood components from excessive heat. The manufacturer claims up to a 60% reduction in under-hood heat. Constructed with an outer layer made from pulverized volcanic lava rock, rated for 1800°F direct heat and 2500°F radiant heat, and woven into a mesh, this turbo blanket also features internal insulation with high-temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool (rated 1832°F continuous, 2300°F peak). A high-temperature stainless steel mesh overlay enhances durability and thermal resistance, ensuring the blanket withstands harsh conditions. Each PTP Turbo Blanket is hand-crafted in North America, adhering to high standards for material selection, design, and construction. This specific turbo blanket is designed for the 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type-R FK8 and the 2023+ Honda Civic Type-R FL5, including all variant models such as RHD and international versions. It is noted that this product is not compatible with the Accord, RDX, or TLX 2.0T stock turbos due to differences in turbine housing and O2 sensor location. Additionally, there is a Prop 65 Warning indicating that this product can expose users to chemicals known to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
