Turbo Blanket

The Forge Motorsport Turbo Blanket is constructed with a carbon fabric outer shell and a calcium magnesium silicate wool inner core, secured by stainless steel rivets and fasteners. It is designed to withstand extreme temperatures, with an interior surface maximum rating of 2300°F (1260°C) and a continuous use limit of 1832°F (1000°C). The exterior surface has a direct contact limit of 1800°F (982°C) and a radiant heat limit of 2500°F (1371°C). The high-temperature silica fabric further enhances its thermal protection capabilities. This turbo blanket is specifically designed for the 2015+ Volkswagen Golf Mk7 GTI and R models, and also fits various turbochargers including T4, T5, TD05, T25, and the Garrett GTX range (e.g., GTX 3071). It aims to keep heat contained within the exhaust side of the turbocharger, leading to cooler intake air temperatures and potentially reducing turbo lag for improved performance. Installation notes from users suggest it can be a difficult process requiring patience, and sometimes a second person or a lift. Specific advice includes removing the OEM heat shield and carefully attaching the retaining springs to avoid interfering with the wastegate actuator. It is also noted that once installed and heat-cycled, the blanket takes its shape and should not be repeatedly installed or uninstalled. The product is non-flammable, but caution is advised as flammable chemicals like oil or fuel on the blanket can produce a flame.
