This data is utilized by the engine control unit (ECU) to make necessary adjustments to ignition timing and fuel enrichment, optimizing engine performance. This specific sensor is an OEM replacement for BMW part number 13627599042 and is manufactured by Vitesco Technologies (formerly VDO), an original equipment supplier to BMW. This sensor is compatible with a range of BMW turbocharged engines, including the N20/N26 4-cylinder, N55 6-cylinder (produced after 8/2010), N63 8-cylinder (produced after 3/2012), S55 6-cylinder, and S63TU 8-cylinder. It is important to note that on some BMW models, particularly V8 engines like the N63, multiple MAP sensors may be present (one for each bank of cylinders), and this part may be used in different locations such as the intake manifold, charge pipe, or intercooler. The following specific fitment notes apply: N20/N26 engines have the sensor located on the intake manifold. For N55 engines, it can be found on the intake charge pipe and intake manifold. N63 engines produced after 3/2012 utilize this sensor on each intercooler and intake manifold, requiring four sensors in total. S55 engines have the sensor on the intake manifold (production date up to 5/2018), and S63TU engines also have it on the intake manifold.
