When a turbo compresses air, it increases its temperature due to the increased kinetic energy of the air molecules. This intercooler's primary function is to dissipate this heat, resulting in denser intake air. Denser air is crucial for preventing pre-detonation (knock) and enabling higher performance output from your engine. While the factory top mount intercooler (TMIC) may suffice for stock boost levels and normal driving conditions, it can quickly become heat-soaked and lose effectiveness when subjected to increased boost pressure or more demanding usage. This GrimmSpeed intercooler features smooth end tank internal contours for maximum flow, a machined throttle body connection for a leak-free seal, and machined flange faces for optimal pressure-tightness.
