The Flyin' Miata turbo manifold is a redesigned component engineered for 1.8L Miatas, serving as a core part of their renowned turbo systems. This iteration has undergone computational fluid dynamics (CFD) testing, resulting in a 24% increase in flow over the previous design and a weight reduction of over 2.5 lbs. When combined with the new outlet, the entire manifold/turbo/outlet assembly is nearly 4 lbs lighter, contributing to improved performance. This optimization leads to faster spool-up times and unlocks the potential for higher power output. The component is finished with Cerakote in C-7900 Glacier Titanium, a coating rated for an impressive 1,800°F (980°C). This high-temperature coating not only maintains the manifold's appearance over time but also effectively slows heat transfer into the engine bay. This new manifold design is a direct replacement for older models. Due to the enhanced flow characteristics, users may need to adjust their boost levels downward if fuel delivery is a limiting factor, as the same power can be achieved at lower boost. The EGR fitting on this manifold is the 1999-00 style, with an M22x1.5 thread pitch. For 2001-05 models, a stock 1999-00 EGR pipe is required. For 1994-97 models, Flyin' Miata's custom EGR pipe is necessary. Installation typically allows for the reuse of the original exhaust manifold gasket. Flyin' Miata recommends against using a gasket between the turbo and manifold, citing their high failure rate and lack of necessity for sealing this joint. The package includes Inconel studs and Stage 8 hardware for attaching the turbo to the manifold.
