These bearings are manufactured for additional oil clearance for 10W60 engine oil and use common rod bearing materials (lead-copper) instead of the harder metals of the latest factory BMW bearing shells. This makes bearing wear easily calculable in oil analysis and the softer material is less likely to damage the crankshaft. The sizes and clearances have been carefully chosen to work with the factory BMW 10W60 engine oil. They are custom made by Clevite specifically for V10 model M5 or M6 enthusiast owners. They are not designed to last longer than any OE BMW bearing, just optimized based on BE's exhaustive research and analysis. In addition to the Tri-Metal construction, the bearings receive the latest anti-wear Clevite F-series coating, a new silver-oxide formula that outperforms the previous PTFE coating and handles 30% higher loads. The silver-oxide also has better lubrication and oil retention properties at low oil thresholds and tighter clearances, perfect for S85 V10 and S65 V8 engines. These bearings are sized for a standard crankshaft that has not been machined and are a direct alternative replacement for BMW part numbers 11247841703 and 11247841702. Connecting rod bolts cannot be re-used and must be replaced.
