Tuscan I-Beam Connecting Rods

The Integrated Engineering 144x22mm Tuscan I-beam connecting rods represent a significant upgrade for VW and Audi 2.0T TSI engines (EA888 Gen 1, 2, & 3) intended for high-performance builds. These rods are engineered with a robust I-Beam design, offering exceptional bending and torsional stiffness. These connecting rods are manufactured and quality-controlled in the USA, honed to extremely precise tolerances of approximately 250 millionths of an inch. This meticulous manufacturing process guarantees superior bearing reliability. Constructed from forged vacuum-drawn 4340 chrome moly steel, the rods undergo multi-stage heat treatment to enhance dimensional stability and fatigue life. They are designed to minimize unnecessary weight, achieving an optimal strength-to-weight ratio, and are balanced to within +/- 1 gram per set. The rifle drilling for forced pin oiling contributes to extended wrist pin longevity. Installation of the IERTVT1 rods requires specific compatible aftermarket pistons featuring a 22mm non-tapered wrist pin. Integrated Engineering offers their own IE Spec Mahle Forged Pistons (82.5mm bore, 9.5:1 CR, Part# MAH-PVN1; or 83mm over-bore, 9.5:1 CR, Part# MAH-PVN2) as a recommended option. The connecting rods are machined to accommodate rod bearings with tangs, which enhances bearing strength and reduces the likelihood of failure or spinning. Compatible rod bearings include Mahle Motorsport performance bearings (Part# MAH-VC1027), Calico/ACL performance coated rod bearings (Part# CAL-4B1606H), and OE replacement bearings (Part# OEM-18T-RBSET). These rods have been rigorously tested and validated in field testing, powering numerous 4-cylinder VW/Audi engines to over 1000 bhp.
