Twin-Tube Motorsport Damper

The Ohlins TTX36-ILX36 represents the pinnacle of motorsport damper technology, built upon the heritage of the highly successful TTX40 design. V8 Roadsters has collaborated with Ohlins USA to create what they consider the ultimate race damper for the NC generation Miata, leveraging the TTX series' proven track record in top-tier competitions like Le Mans, IRL, and WTCC. This is not a standard off-the-shelf racing damper. The TTX series features a sophisticated twin-tube design that ensures positive pressure build-up, proving itself superior to conventional racing damper techniques. Its key virtues include exceptionally low internal friction, an extensive adjustment range, and remarkable responsiveness, even at the smallest suspension movements. The standard configuration offers 2-way adjustability, controlling Low Speed Compression (LSC) and Low Speed Rebound (LSR), with the capability to be expanded to 3- or 4-way adjustability. Each adjustment click provides a tangible change in damping characteristics. A significant advantage of the TTX36 inline damper is its integral reservoir, which allows for a compact design and straightforward packaging, particularly on the front dampers. The rear dampers utilize a TTX piggyback reservoir. This design eliminates the need for a separate reservoir valve, as the balancing of reservoir damping to main piston damping is inherently managed, preventing cavitation. With no reservoir valve, the internal pressure of the damper unit is minimized, virtually eliminating hysteresis and resulting in exceptional performance in short-stroke, high-force situations. Furthermore, the Ohlins TTX range of shocks operates with very low gas pressure, which significantly enhances grip without compromising damping performance. Kits are built to order and can be further customized with optional top mounts, specific spring rates, and customer-provided valving specifications, allowing for a truly bespoke setup.
