Twisted Wedge 185 Series Cylinder Head

The Trick Flow Twisted Wedge® 185 series cylinder head (TFS-51910002-M44) is engineered to be a top aftermarket option for Ford modular engines. Key to its design are the Twisted Wedge combustion chambers and intake valves that are repositioned to the opposite side of the cam. This strategic placement dramatically boosts mid-lift airflow and creates greater piston-to-valve and valve-to-bore clearance. This enhanced clearance is crucial for installing higher lift camshafts and larger valves without the need for bore modifications or flycutting pistons. Constructed from A356-T61 aluminum, these heads feature 185cc intake runners and 44cc combustion chambers. They are equipped with Fast As Cast® runners that rival CNC-ported airflow, CNC-profiled combustion chambers, and robust 3/4" thick decks. The heads also include patented replaceable cam bearing journals and are designed for 3/4"-reach spark plugs. The assembled heads come with 90 lb. single beehive valve springs capable of handling up to .600" of valve lift. Designed for mildly modified engines, the Twisted Wedge 185 heads are compatible with all 2V Romeo and Windsor engines. They accept OE-style camshafts, followers, lash adjusters, valve covers, and most OE Ford front covers. Specific notes indicate that 5.4L engines may require the smaller, 8mm 4.6L timing cover fasteners, and all truck applications will need the TFS-51954PSB Power Steering Reservoir Bracket. Additionally, high mount power steering applications are not compatible; the power steering pump must bolt to the block below the cylinder heads.
