Twister 3/4 Race Torque Converter

The Hays Twister 3/4 Race torque converter is engineered for street/strip performance applications, offering a balance between everyday drivability and racing capability. It is designed to support up to 650 horsepower and is available with various stall speeds suitable for modified engines, including those with higher compression ratios, aftermarket camshafts, cylinder heads, lower gear ratios, and reduced vehicle weight. This torque converter features a 9.6-inch diameter, an 11-1/8-inch bolt circle, and a 1.703-inch crank pilot diameter. It is internally welded for enhanced consistency and longer life, utilizing a State of the Art Spray Welding process in select areas for increased strength and hardness. Heavy-duty Torrington bearings are incorporated for greater durability, and the stator is designed with high-flow vents and channels to promote cooling in high-horsepower applications. The design emphasizes weight savings through a single-application focus, reducing the need for multi-bolt pattern converters. Important considerations for installation and use include: the 3/4 Race series converters are NOT designed for use with Nitrous Oxide or Trans-Brakes. Hays recommends an external transmission cooler with a minimum rating of 18,000 GVW or 15,000 BTU. Installation requires a minimum of Grade 8 bolts. Stall speed ranges can vary based on engine setup, vehicle weight, and gear ratio. This torque converter is compatible with 1992 and later GM 4L60E and 4L65E transmissions. It is legal for sale or use on emissions-controlled, uncontrolled, and racing use only vehicles as it does not affect vehicle emissions.
