The Alpha Racing Type 5 CR Race-Kit engine is a performance engine designed for racing compliance and enhanced quality. It is built by alpha Racing in cooperation with BMW Motorrad Motorsport. This engine is based on K66 standard engines and is assembled by specialists with hand-picked parts and specially selected product groups.

The Alpha Racing Type 5 CR (Customer Racing) kit engine is meticulously crafted to comply with FIM STK regulations, offering the highest level of quality and performance. Built by alpha Racing on the foundation of K66 standard engines, this race engine is disassembled and then precisely reassembled by their specialists using specially selected parts. Each engine is built by hand, with all modification work thoroughly documented. During production, many parts undergo rigorous measurement, weighing, and documentation. This includes optimizing valve timing, matching the weights of connecting rod and piston sets, and installing a custom-fit cylinder head gasket. After assembly, the engine is run-in on a dynamometer for several hours in a defined sequence, followed by a final performance measurement. The engines are only sealed and delivered once the desired performance level is achieved, allowing for direct use on the racetrack without requiring further break-in by the customer. The Type 5 CR Race-Kit engine is specifically designed for the BMW M 1000 RR, covering model years 2021 through 2024 (K66 variant). It utilizes the serial gearbox, and the exhaust system is not included but a suitable complete system from Akrapovič is recommended for optimal power delivery. For enhanced electronic adjustability, data recording, and dashboard integration, the M Race Calibration Kit from BMW Motorrad Motorsport is recommended and can be found separately.
