The Anderson Composites Type-CP Carbon Fiber Hood is engineered to provide a lightweight yet strong enhancement for the 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Utilizing a vacuum infusion process with 3K 2x2 twill carbon fiber cloth, this hood achieves optimal carbon-to-resin ratios for maximum stiffness and strength. The exterior is finished with a marine-grade gloss gel coat, which includes UV inhibitors and is polished to a high-luster shine, ensuring long-term protection and an aggressive aesthetic. Key features include a pre-installed heat shield to protect underhood components from radiant heat and a robust fiberglass skeleton bonded to the underside, adding significant structural integrity. While the stock aluminum hood weighs approximately 26.5 lbs, this carbon fiber version weighs around 28.5 lbs due to the added skeleton, but still offers a premium look and feel. Installation utilizes factory hinges and latch assembly, though the OE hardware is not included and must be sourced separately. It is important to note that OE gas struts should not be reinstalled, and the hood should be closed carefully to avoid cracking.
