The Spelab Typhoon intake manifold is engineered for street performance applications on Ford 351W engines. Its dual-plane design features long runners that enhance both top-end power and low-end torque, making it an ideal choice for high-performance street use. Constructed from lightweight aluminum with a satin finish, it provides durability and a clean appearance. Key specifications include an OEM standard deck engine block style, compatibility with a single carburetor, and an operating range from idle to 6,800 RPM. The manifold height is 5.12 inches. This intake manifold is designed to work best with an aggressive street camshaft and requires a 600-850 cfm carburetor depending on street or competition use. It also includes a rear water crossover passage for more balanced cylinder head temperatures and a cooler running engine. Installation notes indicate that when fitting to a 1974 or earlier engine, a 16-bolt intake gasket is required for proper sealing. Additionally, the stock distributor will not fit with this manifold; an aftermarket distributor is necessary for correct installation. Professional installation is highly recommended as instructions are not included. This product is legal for off-road use and non-pollution controlled vehicles (1965 and older). However, it has not been tested or approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for highway vehicles in California or states with similar emissions regulations.
