It is engineered as a direct bolt-on component, simplifying installation without requiring welding or permanent modifications to the vehicle's structure. The brace is typically constructed from durable materials to withstand the stresses of performance driving. Installation requires the use of M8 nutserts, which require a specific M8 HD nutsert installation tool (part number 96349A815) for proper setting. The kit utilizes M8 stainless steel bolts (part number 92125A290) with a length of 1.181 inches. Volkswagen OEM M8 shouldered hex nuts (part number N 907 611 01) are also specified. Customers have reported that the spacer/deep nut kit may be required for aftermarket exhausts featuring a 4-inch or larger resonator in the mid-pipe area. It is important to note that the UNIbrace UB will not fit with stock exhausts that have side-by-side catalytic converters. It is compatible with aftermarket exhausts featuring a single catalytic converter with a resonator less than 4 inches in diameter in the mid-pipe area. For larger single catalytic converters, the spacer/deep nut kit should be selected. The UB model reduces ground clearance by approximately 1.125 inches.
