This module is compatible with most common crank styles, enabling its use across a wide range of vehicles from Jeeps to Porsches. It ships unprogrammed and requires Unichip mapping or tuning software for programming. The Unichip X features coolant temperature protection and offers the flexibility of 5-map selection for different driving conditions or performance levels.

Its broad compatibility extends to naturally aspirated, factory-turbocharged, supercharged, and aftermarket forced induction applications. The Unichip X functions by intercepting and modifying signals between the vehicle's ECU and sensors, allowing for precise control over fuel delivery, boost pressure, throttle response, and ignition timing. It supports most common crank styles, making it adaptable for a wide spectrum of vehicles. A key feature is the integrated coolant temperature protection, which automatically de-rates the tune if the engine becomes too cold or hot, ensuring engine safety. While the Unichip X itself is a powerful tuning tool, it ships unprogrammed and necessitates the use of Unichip mapping or tuning software for customization. It also offers the convenience of 5-map selection, allowing users to switch between different performance profiles (e.g., Power, Tow, Eco, 4x4, Stock) on the fly. A 24-pin wiring kit is included for installation, and it is designed to be a non-permanent installation that leaves no trace when removed, potentially preserving OEM warranty coverage. The Unichip X is a universal tuning solution, but specific pre-tuned modules, like the "Pre Tuned 1KZ-TE Unichip UNI X," are available for certain applications, such as the Toyota Hilux KZN165, offering tailored performance upgrades.
