This heat exchanger offers approximately 1 gallon of coolant capacity, significantly more than the OEM unit. It includes crash bar mounting brackets, an integrated bleed port for easy air purging, and drain holes on the bottom header. The lower coolant pipe is movable for easier fitment.

The MercRacing upgrade heat exchanger is engineered to provide sustained, high-capacity cooling for Audi vehicles with 3.0T or 4.0T engines that are running hot under boost, especially when planning a tune or pushing performance limits. It addresses the limitations of the OEM unit by maximizing both surface area and coolant volume. This results in dramatically lower and more consistent intake air temperatures, even after repeated hard pulls, preventing power loss. Constructed from all-aluminum with TIG-welded seams, this unit features a multi-pass design with high-density fins for excellent heat dissipation. It boasts approximately a 1-gallon coolant capacity, a significant increase over the stock heat exchanger. Key features include integrated crash bar mounting brackets, a bleed port for easy air purging, drain holes to prevent water accumulation, and a movable lower coolant pipe for flexible fitment. It is available in black powder coat or a polished/raw aluminum finish, with an embossed MercRacing logo. Included with the heat exchanger are mounting brackets, hardware, and silicone hose(s) with clamps. Important fitment notes indicate that vehicles equipped with a factory dynamic steering cooler (visible through the top of the grille) will require this unit to be relocated; the addition of a Compact Fluid Cooler is recommended for this purpose.
