A CURT weld-on trailer hitch is a unique towing option designed to be welded directly onto the vehicle frame using its thick side plates. It offers a high weight carrying capacity and a reliable towing solution when installed properly. This three-piece design (main body and two attachable side plates) allows it to fit multiple vehicle frames. Rated as a class 5 hitch, it's suitable for 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, and 1-ton pickup trucks, including service body vehicles. It's excellent for towing heavy-duty trailers like toy haulers, dump trailers, logging trailers, gravity boxes, and small yacht trailers. This particular hitch has a gross trailer weight capacity of up to 20,000 lbs. and a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver tube opening. It comes with a scratch-resistant and rust-resistant black powder coat finish and requires no hardware for installation. It can fit a frame up to 44" wide (to achieve a 20K-rating, plates need to be welded 42" wide or less). Weld-on trailer hitches are not recommended for any electric vehicle (EV) applications.
