It has 6 forward gears with a 5.79 to 1 gear reduction for the lowest gear and a 0.72 to 1 overdrive in sixth gear, with an overall ratio spread of 8.04. Synchronization is present in all forward gears and reverse, with 2nd and 3rd gear featuring dual cone synchronizers. The maximum input torque is 650 ft-lbs (880 N-m).
