The Focal PS 165 FXE is a 6.5-inch, 2-way component speaker system from Focal's Performance Expert Series Flax Evo lineup. At the core of these speakers are the Flax woofer cones. Made from a sandwich of French flax fiber between two sheets of fiberglass, these cones are remarkably lightweight, rigid, and possess excellent damping capabilities. This design promotes efficient cone movement, reduces distortion, and ensures a neutral, natural sound without coloration. Complementing the woofers are the TAM tweeters, featuring an inverted dome design with an aluminum-magnesium alloy 'M' profile. This design enhances sound definition and provides a wider diffusion angle, making them ideal for various installation positions within a vehicle. The PS 165 FXE system also includes advanced crossovers that utilize high-grade components like air-core inductors. Furthermore, they feature adjustment switches that allow for a 3dB boost on both the tweeter and mid-driver, enabling fine-tuning of the sound output based on speaker placement. Key specifications include a 2-ohm impedance, 90W RMS power handling (180W peak), a frequency response of 55Hz - 28kHz, and a sensitivity of 93dB. The top-mount depth is 3-1/16 inches.
