The Sundown Audio M18D2 is an 18-inch subwoofer engineered to deliver intense bass and stellar low-frequency performance, positioning itself as an "entry-level" model within Sundown's Mega series. It utilizes a custom-tooled and patented frame, combined with a Mega-Roll surround and a quad-stacked 200mm (7.87") diameter motor structure. This subwoofer boasts impressive specifications, including 2000 Watts RMS and 4000 Watts Peak power handling. It features a 3-inch, 4-layer Round Wire Aluminum voice coil wound on a thick aluminum former, capable of achieving a full 35mm one-way linear excursion. The motor structure is further enhanced by a 20mm thick top-plate and hyper-extended pole with extreme clearances, allowing for significant movement. Cooling is optimized through an efficient, high-stroke coil ventilation system, incorporating a high-velocity pole vent, a vented magnetic gap through the back-plate, and a proprietary cast-aluminum frame-base venting system. The M18D2 is designed for the lowest possible bass extension in small enclosures while maintaining extremely low distortion, thanks to its Sundown Mega-Roll surround and proprietary PG linear suspension. It also includes an inner-diameter aluminum shorting ring for superior inductive distortion performance. This model is available in Dual 1 Ohm and Dual 2 Ohm configurations.
