This advanced profile allows valves to open more rapidly and remain open for an extended duration, thereby increasing lift and maximizing the area under the lift curve. This increased surface area directly translates to greater air intake and ultimately, more power output. While the VALC profile accelerates valve opening, it thoughtfully reduces valve closing speed. This controlled deceleration is crucial for preventing common valve train-related problems, offering a balance of performance and reliability. The design addresses a common issue with high-lift camshafts: the potential for camshaft lobes to exceed the valve lifter's surface, leading to damage. Tomei's VALC profile achieves ideal high lift by reducing maximum cam velocity, limiting lobe travel on the lifter surface, and then off-setting this for even greater lift and performance gains compared to standard profiles of similar duration. This intake camshaft features a 282-degree duration and 11.50mm of lift, making it suitable for demanding engine builds. This Tomei Procam camshaft is intended for use with Mitsubishi 4G63 engines found in the Lancer Evolution 1-3 and Eclipse models.
