The Dana Spicer Drivetrain Products 16979 is an axle vent fitting designed to act as a pressure-release valve for the differential. It allows expanding air to escape as the axle heats up and lets air in as it cools, equalizing internal pressure. This function prevents seal damage and leaks, and avoids contamination.
