The IHI VF22 is a ball bearing turbocharger, regarded as one of the best factory Subaru turbos, known for its ability to net over 325 wheel horsepower. It utilizes a 46.5/35.4mm 9-blade turbine wheel and a 52.5/36.6mm 10-blade compressor wheel, with a maximum RPM of 180,000. The turbo is rated for 400-450 horsepower and can handle up to 25 psi of boost, featuring a P20 exhaust housing. Specific wheel dimensions include a turbine wheel of 46.5/35.4mm and a compressor wheel of 52.5/36.6mm. The compressor wheel has an inducer diameter of 47.2 mm and an exducer diameter of 60 mm. This turbocharger is intended for various Subaru WRX, STI, and Forester XT models, including JDM WRX (1993-2007), USDM WRX (2002-2007), USDM STI (2004-Present), and Forester XT (2004-2008). However, buyers MUST determine exact fitment before purchase. Important considerations after installation include the need for supporting modifications and a tune. The unit has approximately 60,000 miles of use.
