The Garmin VHF 215 AIS Marine Radio (MPN: 010-02098-00) is a fixed-mount electronic device designed for marine communication and situational awareness. It integrates Automatic Identification System (AIS) functionality, allowing it to display AIS data directly on compatible Garmin chartplotters, thereby enhancing collision avoidance. The radio offers standard Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) for distress calls and direct communication using a user-programmed MMSI. It transmits at 25 watts and includes a built-in GPS. The device supports all U.S., Canadian, and international marine channels, along with 10 NOAA weather channels. It is NMEA 0183 compatible and features a two-way hailer system for onboard communication. Its design is intended to visually complement Garmin's GPSMAP® 7x2/9x2, GPMAP 10x2/12x2, GPSMAP 7400/7600, and GPSMAP 8400/8600 series chartplotters and MFDs.
