The Summit Racing SUM-151120 Vortec-style cylinder heads offer a new, cast iron solution for builders seeking to upgrade their small block Chevy V8 engines without the risks associated with used OE Vortec castings. These heads are specifically engineered with enhanced casting techniques to reduce the likelihood of cracking, a common issue with original equipment Vortec heads. They serve as a direct replacement for most older small block Chevy heads, providing significantly improved airflow characteristics. Designed for versatility, these cylinder heads are equipped with an upgraded valve spring package capable of handling camshafts with up to 0.525 inches of maximum valve lift. This makes them suitable for use with either hydraulic roller or hydraulic flat tappet camshafts. The heads feature a 64cc combustion chamber, which can contribute to a noticeable increase in compression ratio depending on the specific engine configuration. The intake runner volume is 171cc, with 1.940-inch intake valves and 1.500-inch exhaust valves.
