VR6 Engine Conversion Kit

The Volkswagen Performance Parts EW1070 is a VR6 engine conversion kit engineered for the Mk1 chassis, facilitating the integration of R32, 2.8L, and 3.2L VR6 engines. This conversion kit is compatible with a range of Mk1 chassis applications, including the Scirocco Mk1 (1974-1982), Scirocco Mk2 (1982-1992), Golf/Rabbit/Caddy/Jetta Mk1 (1974-1984), and Golf Cabriolet Mk1 (1974-1992). It is specifically designed for 24-valve VR6 engines, including the R32, 2.8L, and 3.2L variants found in Jetta, Golf, GTI, Eurovan, Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen models. The kit is intended for use with 02A and 02J 5-speed VR6 transmissions. Important installation notes and compatibility considerations are provided. This mount kit is exclusively for 02A and 02J 5-speed VR6 transmissions; other transmissions are not compatible. For right-hand drive vehicles, an adapter is not provided and a hydraulic clutch conversion is necessary. The kit is not compatible with 12V engines; a separate kit is required. Additionally, late-model 02J transmissions with 108mm axle flanges require replacement axle flanges (part numbers 02A-409-355D and 02J-409-359). Vehicles manufactured before 1981 may require two shims for proper axle clearance. Interference with the reverse switch on 02J transmissions can occur, requiring the mounting flange to be cut off.
