VVT-1 Camshaft

The Texas Speed & Performance VVT-1 Camshaft is engineered to enhance the performance of 6.2L LT1, LT4, and L86 engines, offering a significant increase in horsepower and torque. This camshaft boasts a duration of 227 degrees on the intake and 231 degrees on the exhaust, with a lift of .635" for both intake and exhaust valves. The LSA (Lobe Separation Angle) is 116 degrees. This technology helps to improve both low-end torque and high-end horsepower by advancing the cam in lower RPMs and retarding it in higher RPMs. The VVT-1 camshaft also includes provisions to remove the factory Active Fuel Management (AFM) or Displacement on Demand (DOD) system, which deactivates cylinders for fuel economy. For optimal performance and compatibility, Texas Speed recommends using their .660" dual valve spring kit with PAC springs and titanium retainers, along with hardened chromemoly pushrods. To ensure proper valve clearance and harness the full potential of performance camshafts with tighter lobe separations, a Comp Cams Phaser limiter kit is required. This kit restricts the cam timing movement to 20 degrees, maintaining VVT benefits while ensuring safety. For applications with power adders, the +32% fuel lobe is recommended, which necessitates the use of a lash cap during installation. All Texas Speed LT1 VVT camshafts are meticulously designed and tested on a SuperFlow 902 engine dyno using stock 6.2L LT1 engines. This rigorous testing process ensures optimal power curves, safe operation, and piston-to-valve clearance. The VVT-1 camshaft is specifically designed to provide a noticeable jump in horsepower with minimal impact on driveability, offering a mild idle lope that is not overly aggressive.
