Wavetrac Limited-Slip Differential

The Wavetrac differential represents a patented advancement in Torsen differential technology. It effectively addresses the common problem where a typical Torsen differential behaves like an open diff under zero or near-zero torque conditions, such as during transitions from driving to engine braking. Wavetrac's innovative design utilizes precisely engineered converging and diverging wave profiles on the side gears and preload hub. As the side gears rotate relative to each other, these wave surfaces climb, causing them to move apart. This action increases the normal force between the side gears, automatically and seamlessly increasing the bias ratio only when traction conditions necessitate it, thereby maintaining optimal drivability and performance. This technology allows for a higher bias ratio when needed without negatively impacting the vehicle's handling. Beyond its core technology, the Wavetrac differential offers further customization. It comes standard with carbon-fiber bias plates for balanced performance, but interchangeable plates made from materials with different friction coefficients are available separately to fine-tune the differential's response. These friction plates influence the bias ratio based on applied torque load, allowing for tailored performance characteristics. Constructed with superior materials and design, the Wavetrac differential features internal gears made from high-strength 9310 alloy steel and bodies machined from case-hardened steel billet. This differential is noted as being maintenance-free and features an optimized gear design for strength and improved oil film retention. The differential includes an ARP differential bolt kit.
