The Pedders Heavy Duty Rear Coil Spring (PED-7843) is engineered for the 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO, specifically designed as an "X-Drag" component for enhanced rear suspension performance. Manufactured to rigorous ISO 9001 standards, these springs boast an exceptional tolerance of only +/-2mm at loaded height, ensuring consistent and reliable performance. The construction process includes hot-formed coils that are quenched in an oil bath and slowly tempered in an oven. Further refinement is achieved through shot peening and scragging, processes that enhance fatigue life and strength. Finally, a durable powder coating is applied for protection against the elements. Each spring is cut to a precise length and features a rear height raise of 35mm with a spring rate of 5.7 kg/mm. Two coil springs are required per vehicle. Pedders emphasizes that coil spring design and manufacturing is a craft requiring strict adherence to demanding procedures critical to the final product's performance.
