The Comp Cams Xtreme Energy 236/242 Solid Roller Cam and Lifter Kit (CL-Kit) is engineered for Chrysler 383-440 c.i. 8 Cylinder engines manufactured between 1959 and 1980. This kit is categorized as a 'Best all around street roller' and is designed for street/performance applications, operating within a 2,000-6,000 RPM range. The camshaft itself is a solid roller type, constructed from billet steel, and features a 3-bolt camshaft gear attachment. The specifications include an advertised intake duration of 274 degrees and an exhaust duration of 280 degrees, with durations at 0.050 inch lift at 236 degrees for intake and 242 degrees for exhaust. The valve lift is .564 inches for intake and .570 inches for exhaust, with a lobe separation of 110 degrees. This profile provides increased responsiveness and more area under the lift curve compared to older camshaft designs, aiming to boost torque and horsepower while maintaining adequate vacuum for accessories like power brakes.
