The COMP Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft, part number 51-223-4, is a performance-oriented camshaft designed for Pontiac 265-455 cubic inch V8 engines manufactured between 1955 and 1981. This hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, identified by the grind number XE268H, offers a balanced blend of street usability and performance. Key specifications include an advertised intake duration of 268 degrees and an advertised exhaust duration of 280 degrees. At 0.050 inches of lift, the duration is 224 degrees for the intake and 230 degrees for the exhaust. The camshaft features a lobe separation of 110 degrees, with intake and exhaust valve lifts of 0.477 and 0.480 inches, respectively. The optimal operating RPM range for this camshaft is between 1,600 and 5,800 RPM, making it well-suited for street machines.
